It’s never easy going somewhere new for the first time.

Don’t worry – whether you’re moving from another church, visiting on holiday or you’ve never set foot in any church, ever, we want you to feel especially safe and welcomed.

Here are a few things you might be keen to know.

How do I find the church?

Our building stands out alongside convenience stores, pubs, fast food outlets and tattoo shops at the city end of the bustling Mutley Plain – we’re opposite Sainsbury’s. Our ‘Find Us’ page has a map and details about driving to and parking at the church.

Where can I park?

Approaching from the city centre direction you can take a left turn directly after the church into Napier Terrace where you’ll find the entrance to a large pay & display car park. Coming from the other end of Mutley Plain is trickier if you’re not familiar, with barriers preventing a right turn. You’ll just need to take an earlier right at the traffic lights by Co-op and into Ford Park road, then a left along a service lane until you find the car park on the right hand side. Here’s a map to help you plan your visit.

Is there something for the kids to do?

Yes! We love the energy of kids of all ages and there are groups for all ages from crèche up to year 13s meeting during the service. Typically the children stay in the service for the first 15 minutes or so and leave for their groups downstairs en masse, often during a song. There is clear signage to help direct people to the right place, but there’s often someone to you can usually follow the crowd and ask a friendly face if you’re unsure. Take a look at the group pages for more information.

Do I need to wear ‘Sunday best’?

We have a diverse and varied congregation – whatever you are comfortable wearing is absolutely fine and unless you are dressed as a giant chicken, you’re unlikely to draw any strange looks! Sunday best is great, as is shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops, or anything in between – variety is the spice of life, as they say.

Do I have to sing or pray?

Our Sunday services are made up of a combination of elements including sung worship (sometimes hymns, other times more contemporary songs played by a band), prayers and a sermon or talk, usually from one of our ministers. You won’t be expected to sing or pray unless comfortable, but if you feel compelled to join in or would like to meet someone to pray with you after the service there is opportunity to do so.
