From home-based weekly bible study groups to the church football team, ladies and men’s groups and more, our small groups meet a whole range of needs.
We believe in building community within our larger church family.
In a larger church it’s often possible to feel quite distant and struggle to get to know people in a more meaningful way. Small groups give you opportunity to change that – meeting folks your age or with similar interests, for fellowship or spiritual support, for example.
Sofa, so good...!
House groups provide great environments to share life and dig into God’s word – we recommend them highly. Some groups even have chocolate biscuits!
It can be hard to get to know people at a Sunday service. Meeting in people’s homes to read, study, pray, laugh, debate and share is ideal for growing faith & making lasting friendships.
For a recommendation of a house group to join please just call or email the church office and they’ll happily put you in touch with a group leader who can give you specific details. Our groups tend to meet on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings in different areas of the city.
Young mums and other ladies from our church and beyond meet every Tuesday morning from 10am – 12noon in the church lounge to support each other and study the bible together. Contact Sam Partington via the church office to let them know you’d like to pop along.
A chance to meet with other men and grow together; usually fuelled by coffee, bacon & eggs.
It doesn't matter if you're 18 or 88, we hope you'll find our events a helpful way to get to know other men in the church, make and grow friendships, find discipleship opportunities and ways to grow and share your faith.
Our regular Saturday breakfast meetings take place at the Mannamead pub, Mutley Plain, and give opportunity to hear a talk from one of our members or take part in a discussion while enjoying a hearty meal. Contact the church office to find out when the next one is.
We want to see every man: Passionate about God, engaged with the church, and equipped to stand with and live out Jesus amongst his friends, family and work colleagues.
Our bright and active community of over 50s don’t sit still for long! Pop along for fun and fellowship.
You might wonder how we spend our time together at a Livewires meeting. We are delighted to have an interesting and varied programme each year. In recent years we have enjoyed speakers such as Dawn Getley (schools work), Mike Law (Christian Resources Project), and presentations on Remembrance in the Forces and Christian Praise Down The Ages. A Film afternoon included an episode of Dad's Army. We have gone on visits to the Synagogue and to the Naval Dockyard. We hold an annual Maundy Thursday service, as well as an annual Christmas Lunch. And our annual summer outing is always popular - in the past few years we have visited Trago Mills, Dartmoor, and Dingles Steam Fairground.
A group for older people? Try telling the Live Wires group that!
