Transformational ministry? That sounds complicated!
It’s not really! We want to show Jesus’ love for everyone in a practical way and we do what we can to live that out in the community in which we stand.
Gaffers Gorge (Café)
Our popular and informal café provides something to eat and a point of contact for homeless and vulnerable people from 1pm on Mondays and Thursdays each week.
Recovery meets at 7pm every Tuesday, helping people suffering with addictions. The group engages and worships with anyone who struggles with compulsive or addictive behaviours, and invites God to bring healing.
As part of a city-wide rota of other churches and organisations, every Wednesday evening a team from Mutley Baptist Church delivers food to those in need across the city. Preparation for the evening begins at 7pm; the Soup Run departs from the church at just after 9pm, delivering to Charles Cross, Hoe Road Belvadere, Devil’s Point and King’s Road in Devonport, usually returning to church at around 11pm.
If Wednesdays aren’t possible for you but you’d like to help, we have close links with the teams that cover the rest of the week and can put you in touch with the right people.
We always welcome help and extra pairs of hands with the above groups. If you have a gift for this kind of ministry, or even if you have no idea how you could help, just let us know and we’ll have a chat.
